In UX, designing for the end user is the ultimate challenge. I like to take that problem solving approach for my UI to create a good visual experience.
Following the UCD approach, nailing the balance between visual awesomeness and usability is essential.
Typography, Iconography, and Photography can make or break a visual design. It is just as important as layout.
I am a former photographer now UI designer. Earning a BFA in Commercial Arts and a background in photography, I have developed an eye for beautiful things. That could be anything from photographs to interfaces...and even people. While I love photography, I wanted to get into designing something that can be seen and appreciated by people everyday. Having diving into the User Centered Design way of thinking, a successful interface should be visually connected with its content leaving the user satisfied.
I live outside of Chicago, so when I'm not designing you can find me watching the Chicago Blackhawks winning Stanley Cups. I actually don't mind the winters...maybe that's because I'm December born. I like to nerd out with Seinfeld so if you mention it, you might start hearing me quote scenes. I also do that with Dumb and Dumber. I love dogs having many through out my life. Dogs are really are man's best friend. My favorite band is the Foo Fighters and like Seinfeld, I can nerd out about Dave Grohl and the Foo. I finally got to see them in concert at Wrigley Field and it was THE BEST, THE BEST, THE BEST of FOO! I also like puns...
